Last week was the 145th anniversary of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, as a conclusion after a 2 hour speech by Edward Everett, one known nationally from 19 Speeches century. Can you imagine not only the attention of your audience to their more than two hours to talk, but keep them as enrapt? And they have Power Point or overhead projector does not support them in the process!

As a nation, we are not so good to listen when we should be used. After 20 minutessermon, coughing sniffling, and sleep becomes much more visible during church services today, while in previous days, church members were treated to hearing more than an hour in the services, often run for 2-1/2 to 3 hours.

Our ancestors probably had the opportunity to play, musical theater to attend, speak and parties, but for the most part, they had fun. Able to turn on the television or sitting at the computer for hours, they managed to entertain themselves and theirenjoys listening.

Those of us who teach public speaking emphasizes the importance of a strong opening to grab your listeners attention from the beginning. But what happened during the development of your speech or presentation? How can you keep their attention in the rest of your life or you have it in 10 minutes or 45?

– Limiting the main points. Books and courses on public speaking stress the importance of making your speech or presentation with one2-5 main points. Extend your listeners to be careful when you start with the main points, reached number 14 and you still have more to 8 Go!

– Using anecdotes to further clarify or explain your interview subjects. Heard stories that are relevant to the value argument, because it gives credibility to you as a speaker

– Add your humor, and (if possible). The public can always use a laugh. While your role as a presenter or to inform or persuade, makea fun way much more effective Droning on and on.

– The center of visual aids, treat them like this – a help. They can have a big impact on your presentation, but bring the entire presentation in Power Point on your target in this defeat.

– They must be attractive. Talk to your audience if you have a conversation in the living room. Scanning the room when we talk, eye contact with your listeners, recognition of their presence.

In a little 'Fast world of today, we will have an answer and we want it fast. We do not even go to libraries or encyclopedias are not open because the information on our fingers, thus presenting the material to an audience that requires the ability to keep them focused on you, and not their watches or their smartphones. Fascinate the public, and I guarantee that they will never forget the time or to check their messages.
